FER: Fashion Emergency Restoration

What are some things that a fashionsta MUST have for quick fashion changes?

Tide to Go

As a person who loves food and condiments, I am normally the type who would drop food on my clothes. From chocolate to ketchup, I would spill some on my pants. Plus I love using pens, and whenever I'm bored, I would accidentally write on my jeans. And not just any jeans: my white skinny jeans. But with this Tide pen, I can quickly say goodbye to those stains and spots, something that every girl needs!

Scissors
Scissors are a great way to redesign anything (duh!) Scissors can be used when you need a quick transformation. You can take a top you abhor and make it into a crop top, a simple shawl or scarf, maybe a pair of leg/arm warmers. No matter what you redesign, keep your scissors in mind!
Sewing Kit
I just love those cute little sewing kits. They're the perfect item for quick fix-ups such as holes in shirts, lose seam, and broken belts. They're good for on-the-go, plus you can always work on your sewing skills with these guys. A must-have for a fashionista!

Hand Sewing Machine
Yeah, it may seem a little weird to bring a miniature sewing machine, but what can I say? The device can make quick touch ups and such, plus you would always be prepared when someone has a wardrobe malfunction. Give it a try!

These are just a couple of things I think would be perfect for tagging along with you. They're perfect for any little problem you may have, but make sure you bring a fabulous tote bag to actually carry this stuff. What's the point of bring your fab devices if you're not going to let them sit inside an awesome bag?

When is it the best time to redesign your clothes?

Normally, you feel that your old clothes are just taking up space in your closet. An easy fix is either donating them, throwing them away, or cutting them up. When cutting something up, keep these questions in mind:
  • How old is this?
  • Why should I cut this?
  • What can I make?
and
  • Where would I wear this?
How old is this?
Whenever you run into this dilemma, think to when you bought the item. How long ago was that time? The best time to cut something is around a year. If you feel as if the time should be much sooner, think of question two.

Why should I cut this?
If there's an imposible stain that won't come out of the item, this is the time to shread it up and create something new. Sweat marks on the armpits of sleeves is one prime example. An easy way to take care of this problem is by simply cutting the sleeve off. You would have a brand new sleeveless top, which you can decorate uing fabric paint, studs, or buttons.

What should I make?
Don't just cut something unless you know what you're going to make. I like making hand gloves and leg warmers with the sleeves of my old tops. As for pants and jeans, I would make capris and sometimes shorts. Other things you can make are:
  • Scarves
  • Patches
  • A cute tank-top
  • A skirt
  • A crop top
Where would I wear this?
Now is the hard part of this assignment. The clothes you make must be wearable, as well as comfortable for the outside world. After completing your task, brainstorm many ideas on to where you would wear this item. If you're unsure yourself, call up a friend and have them help you.

Send in your photos of your creations to The Fashion...?'s email.

Simon Fashion Now at Lenox Square

Talk about fun and exciting! On April 2, my mom and i went to Lenox Square to see the "Simon Fashion Now" show. I have to say, it was one of my first fashion shows where I was in the audience. People who attended got free coupons and prizes for many different stores like The Limited, Lens Crafters, Rockport, Banana Republic, Bath and Body Works, and so much more. Many people attended the event, plus the show was ah-mazing!

I took many pictures of the event where models were modoling styles from various stores. Unfortunatly, I deleted the video of the childron modeling clothes and accessories from Gymboree (I was trying to create more space on my memory card.) Luckily, you would be able to see some of the children at the end of this post.

Now, the various stores seen in the show were Gymboree, Janie and Jack, The Limited, Johnston & Murphy, Swim 'N Sport, Brahmin, Cache, and MW Tux.

Of course, during the show, the audience was able to win cool prizes and participate and cute little fashion challenges. One challenge is to accessorize one of the models who are wear plain jeans and a tank-top. Congratulations to the winning model and designers.
Team1 and Team2 has finished their accessorizing.

The models model the outfits.

Team1, the Bohemian outfit, has won!
